How to Make Moving Easier for Your Pets

1. Arrange Pet Care on Moving Day
With doors constantly opening and closing, and people carrying boxes in and out, it’s easy for pets to slip out unnoticed. To avoid the chaos and keep your pet safe, consider boarding them for the day or asking a trusted friend or family member to pet sit until the move is complete.

2. Pack a Pet Essentials Box
Just like you’d pack a box of must-haves for your first night, do the same for your pet. Include items like their food, favorite toys, medications, treats, water bowls, and a cozy bed or blanket. Having familiar items handy will provide comfort during the first few days in a new place.

3. Create a Familiar Space
Once you're in the new home, set up a designated area for your pet right away. Surround them with items that smell like "home," stick to regular feeding and walking schedules, and give them time to explore their new surroundings at their own pace.

4. Update Identification and Vet Records
Don’t forget the paperwork! Make sure your pet’s ID tags and microchip info reflect your new address and contact number. Also, request your previous vet to transfer medical records to a new local clinic so you're covered in case of emergencies.

Moving can be hectic, but with a little prep and attention, your pet will settle into their new home in no time. They just need your patience—and maybe a few extra treats. 🐾
